No trip to Cornwall is complete without a visit to one of the many quaint fishing villages. Here's a few of the best.
| Padstow Slate hung houses crowd narrow streets leading to a picturesque harbour where fishing boats rub gunnels with cabin cruisers. Well known for the Obby Oss ceremony on the 1st of May, more recently renowned for Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant. | Mevagissey Delightful unspoilt fishing village on the south coast, where whitewashed stone houses lead down to the Inner and Outer harbours. Mevagissey is a working fishing port, where you can see trawlers unloading the catch or take a two-hour trip around the bay. On sunny days look out for cats sleeping on the piles of fishing nets. | Tintagel Yes it’s touristy, but still worth a visit. Check out the Old Post Office, a 14th-century manor house with a topsy turvy slated roof, or walk out to the ruins of Tintagel Castle. | Boscastle Filled with cottages with higgledy-piggledy roofs, Boscastle clings to the side of the beautiful Valency valley. | St Ives Seaside fishing village in the far west, with narrow winding cobbled streets and passages, a magnificent harbour, and superb beaches, all just around the corner from Land's End.
